Vaccinations

Talked to my local doctor's office this morning. Vaccinations for TBE are available, and I was able to get an appointment for all three of us before we leave on August 2. It's a course of three shots over 18 months, but at least we will have the first one out of the way.

an update from Britt - she says your property is probably fairly tick-ridden just now, because it's been a nice quiet hang out spot and passageway for deer (and moose!). Once your house is up and there are humans strolling about, the deer will get the hint that this is no longer a safe spot and the number of ticks you find will be reduced! By the way, I took a walk around the island yesterday, and when I was - all alone - on that long stretch of main path behind your house, I heard the unmistakable sounds of a mother and baby moose...I wasn't scared, per say, but I upped my step as I would have been a little shaken if they had decided to step out from the bush and stand in front of me on the path. They're vegetarians, but still...

Marg-
Good news on the ticks, that makes sense. We'll scare 'em all away!

As for the moose, I agree the idea of seeing one is fun but actually being face-to-face, (face-to-snout?), is probably a bit much. They may be gentle, but they are big!
